“Let me see your phone.” What a second vault can and cannot do
“Let me see your phone for a second.” Between friends it is a joke. Other times it is not, and saying no is not easy.
What you can do, with or without ZeroBox
- Decide in advance what you are comfortable showing, and what you will say if you are asked for more.
- You are allowed to say no. How easy that is depends on who is asking.
- If the request comes with pressure or threats, your safety comes before any app. Local support services can help.
How ZeroBox helps
- A second PIN in ZeroBox opens a separate vault with its own files. If you open ZeroBox at someone else’s request, you open that one. You set it up in Settings, Decoy PIN.
- The second PIN must be the same length as your own PIN.
- Put ordinary, harmless files in it. An empty second vault raises questions.
- You can also make the icon look like an ordinary app: Settings, Disguise app icon.
What ZeroBox does not cover
- We do not claim protection against being forced. The app says so itself: this is strong but not absolute, and an expert with full access to the phone may find traces that ZeroBox cannot control.
- Someone who knows that ZeroBox offers a second vault can ask you for both PINs.
- A disguised icon hides the app from a glance, not from a search. Settings, Apps shows its real name.
- A second vault does not erase anything. It adds one.
