How to hide photos and videos on Android with ZeroBox
Short answer. To hide photos and videos on Android, move them into the ZeroBox vault: tap + and pick your files. They are locked behind a PIN of their own, separate from your screen lock, and sealed with AES-256. No cloud, no account, no ads.
How to hide photos and videos in ZeroBox, step by step
- Install ZeroBox from Google Play and choose a PIN. It is not tied to your phone's screen lock.
- Save your recovery key. If you forget the PIN, it is the only way back in.
- Tap + in the vault and choose photos and videos.
- Mark the pictures and clips you want to hide.
- Open a few files in the vault to make sure they are there. Then check your gallery: photos taken from it should be gone. If any original is left, delete it in the gallery.
You can sort files into albums inside the vault. Screenshots inside the app are blocked. Copies made earlier outside the vault are not covered: if your gallery app backs up to a cloud or keeps deleted photos in a trash, check those places too.
What else ZeroBox does for you
- A second PIN opens a different vault. Handy if someone may ask you to show your phone.
- No internet permission. The app has no way to go online by itself. Here is how to check that yourself.
- Really encrypted, not just hidden. See how to tell the difference.
What to know in advance
- Nothing syncs. You move to a new phone with a transfer file you save yourself. With no recovery key and no transfer file, a lost phone is a lost vault. See the recovery and new phone guide.
- You keep your PIN and recovery key yourself: we have no way to recover them.
