Other people know your unlock code. What protects your photos now?
Your partner knows your unlock code. So does your mother, and a flatmate once watched you type it. Nobody did anything wrong. The code just stopped being a secret.
What you can do, with or without ZeroBox
- Change the screen lock when you think someone has seen it. Do it without a fuss.
- Use a different code for the phone than for your bank card and your other devices.
- Avoid a date that someone close to you could guess.
How ZeroBox helps
- The ZeroBox PIN is its own. It is not tied to your screen lock, so the unlock code opens the phone, not the vault.
- Each PIN attempt first has to pass the phone’s own check, your fingerprint or the screen lock (Double Guard). The screen lock becomes the first door and the PIN the second.
- With “Require PIN after fingerprint” switched on, a fingerprint alone never opens the vault.
What ZeroBox does not cover
- Do not use your screen-lock code as the vault PIN. Then you are back to one secret.
- If someone removes the screen lock, ZeroBox deletes its Double Guard key and the PIN stops working until you use the recovery key. That blocks the reader and locks you out too, so keep the recovery key on paper.
- Photos outside the vault are open to anyone who has the phone unlocked.
