75 disguises for the ZeroBox icon
Short answer. ZeroBox can change its icon and name to look like an ordinary app: 5 kinds, 5 icon styles and 3 names each, 75 variants in all. It hides the app from a glance, not from a search.
How it works
The kinds are calculator, finances, smart home, cinema and CCTV. In Settings, under the disguise section, you preview the variants in a launcher and press Apply.
The disguise screens are not empty pictures. The calculator really calculates: you type your PIN as a number and press equals to open the vault. The other screens show a PIN panel in their own style. The same screen is used for both PINs, so nothing differs between them.
When the disguise takes effect, your home screen may briefly flash "app removed" and then show the new icon. The app is not deleted and the vault is untouched. You can go back to the ZeroBox icon at any time.
If your vault is large, a calculator holding gigabytes looks odd. The app then suggests a media-style disguise.
What the disguise does not hide
- Long-pressing the icon or opening Settings, then Apps, still shows the real name and icon: ZeroBox.
- On Android 15 and newer, Google says apps in a locked Private Space are hidden from Settings. The disguise does not do that.
- Someone who connects the phone to a computer with Android's debugging tool can list the installed package and all its icon variants.
- The disguise changes how the app looks. It does not change how the vault is encrypted, and it does not make the vault safer by itself.
Questions people ask
Does the disguise change the encryption?
No. It only changes the icon, the name and the entry screen. The vault is untouched.
Will I lose files when I apply it?
No. The app is not deleted. The home screen may flash "app removed" for a moment.
Can I go back to the normal icon?
Yes. Choose the ZeroBox icon in the same place.
Does the calculator really work?
Yes. If you type anything other than your PIN, it calculates like a calculator.
Which disguise suits a large vault?
A media-style one, cinema or CCTV. A calculator holding gigabytes looks out of place, and the app says so.
Does this hide ZeroBox from Android Settings?
No. The real name and icon still show under Settings, Apps. Android 15 Private Space can keep it out of that list.
